LGBTQ+ affirming mental health services

BTGAMHS offers specialized, LGBTQ+‑affirming mental health services for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Our team provides respectful, culturally competent care that recognizes the unique challenges LGBTQ+ people may face, including discrimination, minority stress, and family or social rejection.

LGBTQ+ Services are designed for:

  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, Two‑Spirit, non‑binary, and questioning individuals of any age
  • Clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance‑related concerns tied to LGBTQ+‑specific stress
  • People navigating coming‑out, gender transition, relationships, or family conflict
  • Partners and family members who want to better support an LGBTQ+ loved one

How We Tailor Care for LGBTA+ Clients

Our clinicians are trained in LGBTQ+ cultural competency, including:

  • Use of correct names and pronouns
  • Understanding minority stress, stigma, and discrimination
  • Supporting gender‑diverse and transgender individuals through social and medical transition
  • Addressing intersectional identities (race, culture, disability, and more)

We use evidence‑based approaches—such as cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive counseling, and trauma‑informed care—adapted to each person’s unique needs and goals.
